Great start to March!

It was a dreary, rainy, early-March afternoon, and I was tired.  Wanting nothing more than to stay inside with my family, still in their pajamas, and watch movies, I headed down to Good Shepherd for Sara's recital.  I can't say I wasn't looking forward to it; I was lucky enough to hear a bit of their rehearsal on Thursday, and was already mesmerized by the Messiaen.  The weather just had me bummed out.

But then 3:00 came, and I completely forgot about the weather outside.  Soprano Sara Paar and Pianist Cathy Miller performed three wow-worthy pieces:  Messiaen's Chant de terre et de ciel (I was exhausted after this, and I was only turning pages!), a premiere of Alexander Nohai-Seaman's Letter from Home , and Mary Ann Joyce-Walter's three pieces, The Sweetness, Note to Amadeus and A New Theology.  The rain continued to fall, pounding the windows at times (which only added to the magic of the music, somehow), but I was transported to another place by the music, and the stellar performance.  As I looked around at the end of the Messiaen, the audience was completely speechless, utterly still and silent, and you could tell that everyone was sitting almost in awe of what they had just heard.  And once they started to applaud, it didn't stop for a long time.

This is what Art on the Corner is bringing to our community.  Thank you so much, Sara and Cathy for sharing with us all yesterday.  I look forward to seeing everyone at the Windsor Trio on the 20th, and our first WordUP on March 25!
