A Note from the director
Art on the Corner entered its 13th season in Autumn 2017. Programming was put on hold through the remainder of 2017, as Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd was undertaking a major repair/renovation project in its sanctuary space. The project is now complete and AOTC is happy to resume its arts and cultural programming in Good Shepherd Lutheran Church's beautifully renovated sanctuary space.
AOTC continues to be the place "Where Community & Arts Meet," a fact celebrated in February 2015 with a special 10th Anniversaty Concert Celebration, "HeART on the Corner." Throughout the years, AOTC has maintained its Concert Series programming, adding numerous programs in the past few years: SLICE Family Nite, JAZZ NITE in the Soul Café, Ceramics for Parent & Child, Kids Art on the Corner Art classes, Art for Adults workshops, and Drumming for Women workshops. AOTC celebrated this growth in February 2016 with a fundraiser concert event featuring "New Andalucia" (Arab and Flamenco Music), that raised funds for Syrian refugees via the Karam Foundation and also raising funds for continuing Art on the Corner programming,
New in 2018, AOTC is thrilled to be partnering with Music For Food (MFF), a musician-led initiative for local hunger relief. MFF's first concert takes place on Sunday, February 4, and will benefit Reaching Out Community Services. A second event takes place on Sunday, May 20, and will benefit Bay Ridge Center.
Art on the Corner would not be possible without YOU! Thank you for your support, be it attending AOTC events, offering a greeting or word of encouragement at the door, helping to spread the word about AOTC, sharing a suggestion, or gifting us with a financial contribution – all is greatly appreciated. The reality, however, is that it’s not enough to offset the cost of continuing to produce AOTC events.
In the midst of the many ‘ask’ letters that inundate our inboxes during the year, I ask you to consider becoming a monthly donor to Art on the Corner. No amount is too small. A monthly donation will add up over the course of a year and you can feel happy knowing that you are offering Art on the Corner consistent, steady support. No amount is too small. One-time donations are always welcome too!
Donate securely via PayPal by clicking clicking here (please note: the transaction will reflect our sponsor organization: 'English Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd’), or access the donation button on Art on the Corner's homepage here. I thank you, once again, for your continued support. I hope to see you at an upcoming event.
Here's to a successful 2017-2018 season!
